Silitec has developed and patented the Sand Technology. This proprietary technology has specific advantages in performance as well as in fabrication costs.
The technology consists in filling a tube with high quality silica granulates. Following a sintering process step, the resulting preform is drawn into an optical fiber.
The Sand Technology is used for the manufacturing of:
-The cladding of standard single-mode fibers,
-The core of rare-earth co-doped specialty fibers,
-The bulk material of multi-structured fibers.
The Sand Technology is a simple process with very short cycle times that yields high quality optical fibers.
